I wrote this for Dougs wife. Doug was my best friend of 58 years.

DOUG LUSTIG!

A RETURN WITH THE ANGELS

A RETURN WITH THE ANGELS THAT BROUGHT US HERE.

A PATH WE ALL TAKE THAT IS NOW VERY CLEAR.

THE TIMING OF THIS RETURN NEVER SEEMS RIGHT

KNOWING OUR FIRST INSTINCT SEEMS ALWAYS TO FIGHT.

THE PAIN THAT WE FEEL WHILE WATCHING ONE FADE,

ARE THE DUES OF OUR LOVE THAT NOW MUST BE PAID.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THE HURT WE SUSTAIN ?

THE GREATER THE LOVE, THE GREATER THE PAIN.

WE MUST FEEL BLESSED FOR THE TIME THAT WE HAD,

AND RELEASE ALL OUR ANGER AND STOP BEING MAD.

THE DAY WILL COME WHEN WE ALL RE-UNITE.

UNTIL THAT DAY COMES IT WILL NEVER SEEM RIGHT.

FEEL SOLACE KNOWING HE IS NOW IN GODS HANDS.

VISUALIZE HIM IN HEAVEN, THAT’S WHERE HE NOW STANDS.

THE LOVED ONES HE KNEW WHO PRECEDED HIM HOME.

WILL MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HE WON’T BE ALONE.

A RETURN WITH THE ANGELS THAT BROUGHT US HERE.

IS A TIME TO REJOICE AND NEVER TO FEAR.

Doug was a friend especially during our High School years.  I am very sorry to hear of his passing.  We remained friends during his time in the service and shortly after he finished his duty.  In fact, I picked him up from the base in Oceanside when he finished duty.  My mother and I had a dinner for him and several other friends prior to their going into the service in 1967 or 68 in California.  I think Jerry Franklin was there as well.  We had a lot of fun times together.  He was a racing buddy of mine.  I will miss him.  My regards to his family and friends.

Blessings,

Louie Lollio

Rest in Peace Doug.  I still smile when I remember him.  Doug was the only person in high school to call me by my given name, Louella.  When I asked him why he didn't call me Lolli, like everybody else, he replied, "because Louella is a beautiful name and you are a beautiful girl."  It never bothered me after that.  My heart goes out to your family.  You were blessed. xox
